Terms of Service

Desk Dollars is operated by Andrew Hall, an individual/sole proprietor located in Florida, United States. These Terms apply when you create, access, or use a teacher account or authorize classroom use. Contact [email protected] with legal or product questions.

By accepting these Terms, an adult educator or authorized school representative agrees for the account and confirms authority to act for the school or organization identified at signup. The Privacy Policy and, when accepted for student education data, the Data Processing Addendum are incorporated. The DPA controls over these Terms for a conflict about processing covered student data; mandatory law controls where it cannot be waived.

This version takes effect on the stated effective date. Material changes are presented through appropriate notice and renewed acceptance when law or contract requires it. The en-US text controls; translations are provided for convenience.

Teacher accounts are for adults who are educators or authorized school representatives. You must provide accurate registration details, follow school approval rules, and give parents or students any notice or obtain any consent your circumstances require.

A subscription licenses one teacher account. Do not share teacher credentials. Teachers create student identities; students cannot create their own identities. Teachers must distribute and protect student credentials appropriately, and must not place passwords in cards, QR payloads, exports, or URLs.

Desk Dollars, classroom dollars, balances, jobs, payroll, rent, store purchases, goals, cards, and account numbers are a classroom simulation. They are not banking, legal tender, stored value, credit, an investment, a tax service, or financial, legal, or tax advice. Simulated dollars cannot be redeemed for money through Desk Dollars.

Educators retain rights in class names, jobs, store items, images, transaction reasons, and other content they author. You give Desk Dollars a limited license to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to provide, secure, support, and legally operate the service.

Desk Dollars owns its software, design, brand, and documentation. Feedback may be used without payment or confidentiality obligations unless separately agreed. The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these Terms. Unlawful content, harassment, exploitation, credential attacks, scraping, service interference, malware, and privacy violations are prohibited.

Andrew Hall/Desk Dollars is the controller for teacher account, product support, security, legal, and entitlement data. Where the applicable model treats student classroom information as education data, the school or educator is the controller and Desk Dollars acts as processor or service provider on documented school directions.

Schools decide whether a FERPA exception, COPPA school authorization, parent consent, contract, or local approval is appropriate. Desk Dollars retains its own operator and processor duties. Review the Privacy Policy, DPA, and COPPA/FERPA notice before adding students.

A verified eligible teacher account receives one cardless 14-day trial. The annual list price is $29.99 USD. A promotion may change an initial charge, but renewal uses the then-current disclosed annual price. Taxes and local-currency presentation may be handled at checkout.

The annual plan automatically renews until cancelled. Cancellation stops future renewal and access continues through the paid-through date. A failed renewal may receive a 7-day renewal grace period. Payments are generally nonrefundable, except where law requires a remedy or Desk Dollars or the merchant of record grants a discretionary exception.

Managed Payments transactions are Sold through Link, LLC. Sold through Link, LLC is the merchant of record and, with Stripe and Link, performs independent controller duties for payment, tax, fraud, transaction support, and legal records. Desk Dollars provides product support and does not receive or store full card details. A card statement may use a LINK.COM* descriptor shown at checkout.

When trial or complimentary access ends, classroom tools pause during a 30-day recovery window. When paid access ends, they pause during a 90-day recovery window. During a recovery window, account status, subscription recovery, export, verified privacy deletion, support, preferences, legal pages, and logout remain available.

Desk Dollars may limit or suspend access to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or address a material breach. You may cancel or request verified deletion. Immutable ledger and accounting records may remain under anonymized identities where needed for classroom record integrity or legal obligations. Authored transaction descriptions and student-visible reasons may remain, so educators must avoid unnecessary personal information in ledger reasons. Audit records are scrubbed of supported personal details during cleanup, while limited legal, security, acceptance, or accounting evidence may remain.

The service may change, experience interruptions, or be discontinued. Backups are a resilience measure, not a guarantee that every item can be restored. If a planned business closure occurs, Desk Dollars will provide reasonable notice and an export opportunity when feasible, then stop unnecessary collection and delete or anonymize data under the Retention and Closure Policy. Emergency, security, legal, or insolvency conditions may limit advance notice.

Stripe, Link, Cloudflare, and configured infrastructure providers operate under their own terms and privacy notices. External links are provided for convenience; Desk Dollars does not control third-party services.

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without warranties that every classroom outcome, data restoration, or uninterrupted operation will occur. Nothing here excludes a warranty or remedy that applicable law does not allow the parties to exclude.

To the extent permitted by law, Andrew Hall's aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of amounts paid for the affected subscription in the preceding twelve months or USD $100. This limit does not apply where prohibited or to liability that cannot legally be limited. An organization agrees to defend and indemnify Andrew Hall against third-party claims caused by its unlawful content, misuse, or breach, but not to the extent caused by Andrew Hall's own conduct or where the obligation is prohibited.

Before filing a claim, email [email protected] with a description and requested resolution and allow a good-faith informal discussion. Florida law governs to the extent non-waivable local law does not control. Claims may proceed in ordinary Florida state or federal courts, subject to mandatory consumer venue rights. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive jury or class rights.
